The Brook House is an ideal place for your ski or summer vacation. With 5 bedrooms, sleeping for 14, 2 and a half baths and a large hot tub, this property is a favorite of ours in both the summer and winter.

 
SLEIGH RIDES

Cavendish Trail/Sleigh Rides at Bates Mansion (802) 226-7863 45-minute ride through the fields and woods Minimum $35 or $10 per adult Available daily starting at 11 a.m. One day advance booking required. (DIRECTIONS: North on 100, right on Kingdom Road at Echo Lake Inn, right on Twenty Mile Stream Road, farm is on the right. You can’t miss it; it’s the only big mansion. The stables are before the mansion. About 6 miles total.)

Hawk Mountain Resort (802) 672-3811 Saturday nights. Need to call for reservations. (DIRECTIONS: North on Rte. 103 about three miles. Turn right when you see the Hawk sign with the big hawk on it.) Hi-Lo Farm in Springfield (802) 886-8441 Smaller Sleigh holds 4 people – 1-hour ride for $75 Larger Sleigh holds 14-16 people – 1-hour ride for $125

Okemo Valley Nordic Center (802) 228-1396 Offers a variety of trails, both on the golf course and in the woods, a store, a rental shop and a restaurant. Located one mile from Okemo Mountain Resort off Route 103 North on Fox Lane. (DIRECTIONS: Go south on Route 100, left on 103, left on Fox Lane. Parking on right and Nordic Center on left. Call 802-228-1396 for conditions.)

Hawk Mountain Resort (802) 672-3811 Hawk has several trails for all levels, and offers equipment rentals, though they're not cheap. (DIRECTIONS: North on Rte. 103 about three miles. Turn right when you see the Hawk sign with the big hawk on it. Go past the parking lot on the left and turn into the second parking lot, behind the white house.)

Camp Plymouth State Park at Echo LakeIf you have your own gear, you can go over there and ski on the wooded trails or on frozen Echo Lake where the snowmobilers have made trails. (Good rule of thumb: if the snowmobilers haven’t been there, you shouldn’t go there.) (DIRECTIONS: North on 100, right onto Kingdom Rd. at Echo Lake Inn, left onto Scout Camp Rd. Park is at bottom of hill. Lake is to the left and wooded trails to the right after the cluster of cabins.)

Echo Lake & Lake RescueIf you have gear, the lakes have trails made by snowmobiles that provide nice tracks for XC skiers, and you can tell where the ice is frozen. (Good rule of thumb: if the snowmobilers haven’t been there, you shouldn’t go there.) (DIRECTIONS to Lake Rescue trails: South on Route 100 for ½ mile, left onto dirt road with “Chalet for Rent” sign. Go past two or three houses on the right, pull over and park where you see the lake access on your right.)
